BASIC 101 – Basic Control Valves

  Training

Basic control valves 101 course is intended to provide a fundamental understanding of the usage control valves for all engineers and technicians working with final control elements. This course will give students hands on experience with assembling, testing and maintaining linear and rotary control valves. In addition, the students will have classroom time for learning common industry terminology, control loops basics and standard control signals. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Disassemble and reassemble control valve types LTR43, 72.X,73.X, 82.7, and 3241- 1/-7 up to DN 150/6" (standard, insulating and bellows section).
  • Install, parameterize and initialize smart SAMSON positioners.
  • Mount pneumatic actuators to SAMSON control valves and adjust them mechanically
  • Change response times and implement special functions of actuators according to application requirements.
  • Explain the function of different accessories and how they are mounted, piped, initialized and tested.
  • Calculate allowable leakage rates according to leakage classes, perform seat leakage and hydrostatic tests using SAMSON testing rig and properly document the tests performed.
  • Explain basic control loop functions and control signals used for industrial applications.
